THE ONE WHO WON MY HEART (A short Kimerald fan fiction)

“Good morning Kuyaaa!”
Kim greeted her driver cheerfully as she gaily stepped into the waiting van. She settled into her seat and turned to her personal assistant who was just a few steps behind her.“Ate Tata, bilisan nyo na, mali-late na tayo,” Kim called out to her.
The driver chuckled from the front seat and replied, “Good morning din Kim. Mukhang ang saya saya mo yata ngayon ah! Ano bang meron?”
“Kasi…excited yan. Sa sobrang excitement nya, ayan maagang gumising at maagangnatapos. Yung call time nya sa isa’t kalahating oras pa at thirty minutes lang ang biyahe pero ayan, atat na atat ng umalis.”
“Ano!?” Kim exclaimed and then looked at her watch. “Oo nga no! An gaga pa natin,” Kim said with a giggle. “Sorry po!” She said with a contrite look on her face.
“Ok lang yan Kim, naiintindihan ko naman,” Ate Ta replied with a knowing look.
“Uy Ate Ta, ikaw ha! Anong ibig mong sabihin?” Kim asked.
“Sus, ikaw talaga. Alam ko anniversary nyo ngayon ni Gerald kaya naiintindihan ko kung bakit hindi ka mapakali dyan,” Ate Ta explained.
“Ahhh…kaya pala.” Fredo said witcoulh a nod and a smile from the front seat.
“ATE TA! Paano nyo alam?!” Kim exclaimed in surprise.
“Kim, nandoon ako nung first time at second time. Ngayon ang pangatlong pagdiriwang nyo. Natatandaan ko ang araw Kim.” Ate Ta said with a teasing smile.
“Natatandaan nyo? Hahaha,” Kim could only ask ang giggle in response because she could not think of anything to say anymore. Ate Tata was right. Today was indeed their third anniversary.
Kim took a deep breath and signed in anticipation as she settled more comfortable in her seat. The she got lost in her thoughts as she kept on thinking on what surprise Gerald had in store for her today.
In their past two anniversaries, Gerald had always spritng his surprise first thing in the morning. He had flowers delivered to her the moment she woke up. The other time, the flowers and his gift was waiting for her at her dressing room because they had work that day too. Since last night, she had been thinking of nothing else but what surprise she would receive from him.
For her part, she had ordered a set of his and hers ring
for them. Kim wanted to take the rings out of her bag and look at them again but she controlled herself because Ate Tata was sitting so close to her. She wanted Gerald to be the first to see the rings before other people.
Therefore she contented herself by thinking of ideas on how she would give her gift to Gerald. Upon reaching their destination, Kim came up with the idea of giving the ring to him after he would give his gift too.
Kim arrived at the set with thirty minutes to spare. She skipped towards the tent assigned to her and eagerly looked around for a bouquet of flowers or a wrapped present or a banner greeting her but nothing was there. Hiding her disappointment, she went out of the tent and hailed one of the PAs passing by.
“Anne, good morning. Alam mo ba kung dumating na si Gerald?”
“Good morning Kim. Ang alam ko, di pa dumadating si Gerald. Maaga pa naman eh,” The personal assistant in the set answered.
“Ah Ok. Oo nga, maaga pa pala. Thank you,” Kim replied to the PA who smiled in return.
Kim went back inside the tent and thought of reading her script one more time. But she could not concentrate in anticipation. She could feel the erratic beating of her heart and could not sit still. After every few minutes, she kept glancing on his watch while wondering how Gerald could give his surprise if she arrived there ahead of him.
“Ikaw kasi Kim, masyadong excited. Ayan tuloy, ikaw din ang sumira ng surprise mo!” Kim scolded herself as she stood up and paced the length of the tent.
Ten minutes before she was due at the set, Anne, the PA whom she asked about Gerald earlier, came into the tent and reminded her to be at the set in ten minutes. Kim spent the next eight minutes readying herself and then stood up and went out of the tent.
The next instant, she squealed as she bumped into something. Or rather, it was someone.
“Good morning Baby. Sorry I’m late,” Gerald said from the opening of the tent as he held out his arm to steady her.
“Bakit ngayon ka lang?” Kim asked.
“Sorry natraffic kasi ako medyo late na nagising. Halika na bllis, hinihintay na tayo ni Direk,” Gerakd said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her.
“Teka lang…” Kim started to protest but suddently another thought entered her mind. OMG, what if he would spring the surprise in front of everybody. Oh no, it’s going to be embarrassing because she doesn’t want to broadcast such event to everyone. She was a private person and public display of affection and public declaration of feelings was a no-no to her. Yes, they are romantic and made her giddy all over always, but she wanted to prevent it as much as possible. It was okay to her if Gerald would whisper romantic words or do swoon-worthy acts if there was only the two of them. But knowing Gerald and his penchant for not holding back and keeping his feelings towards her, it would not be impossible for him to come up with such idea.
“Gerald! Kung ano man….” Kim started to tell him tos stop whatever his plans are but she was too late. They were already in front of their director.
“O, ayan nap ala silang dalawa, let’s get mpving everyone,” the director ordered.
Everyone sprang into motion and went to their designated places. Everyone except Kim who was rooted on the spot in shock, dimay or disappointment, she did not know. She was really expecting to see the surorise from Gerald but she had expedted wrongly again.
“Kim, ok ka lang ba? Ano pla ang sinasa I mo kanina?” Gerald nudged her.
“Ha? Ah…uhm…ok lang ako. Wala naman akong sinasabi ah?” Kim replied, hoping that Gerald would not see through her lie.
Hiding her dismay at herself foe expecting so much, she forced herself to concentrate on her work. Their scene was shot in a breeze and suddenly the crew set up the place for the next scene. Kim turned to Gerald to talk to him but he beat her to it.
“Kim, I need to talk to Direk. See you later,” gErald said and turned on his heel and went after the director. She had not even answered him and he turned his back on her!
Kim, relax ka lang. Wag masyadong high blood, Kim thought to herself as she walked towards the tent to prepare for the next scene. She was expecting Gerald to be back after a few minutes but he did not come. During the next several break while the next scene was set up, Gerald did not come to her but instead he came up with one reason after another why he has to go to such person or places.
By the time their lunch break came, Kim was already at the end of her patience and was thinking of ignoring him when he arrived with food for her.
“Kim sorry talaga. Marami lang kasi akong inaasikaso,” Gerald said as he bent down and kissed her on the forehead.
Since Kim was seething a little, she did not reply and instead just grabbed the food and opened it.
“Kim bakit nakasimangot ka? May problema ba?” Gerald asked tenderly as he took the seat opposite her. When Kim still did not answer Gerald put his fingers under her chin and tipped her face.
“Aha! I could see the fire burning in your eyes. Galit ka ba sa akin?” Gerald asked once again but he was met with only silence from kim.
With a sigh, he sat straight and forced Kim to look him in the eye. “Baby, I’m sorry talaga but you know about my problem on how to attackthe heavy scene assigned to me. Kaya I asked Direk for help as well as the other veteran actors on the set. Tapos yung sasakyan ko, di pa rin tapos kaya finalow-up ko sya. Sorry kung super busy ako today but believe me, you were never out of my mind. You’re always at the back of my thoughts. Don’t worry I’ll make it up to you,” Gerald promised.
Kim could feel the anger quickly seeping out of her system. That was always the case with Gerald. She could never stay angry with him even for an hour. She could last only a few minutes. But then part of it was his fault too. He was so charming when he would apologize to her. And then he would intersperse a few romantic lines within his apology that was bound to soften her heart towards him instantly.
“Baby, patawad na please? Pretty please?” Gerald begged.
Kim looked at him and seeing the contrite and sincere look at his face, she could do nothing but forgive him.
“Sige na nga, pinapatawad na kita,” Kim declared with a sigh.
“Thanks Baby. That’s why I love you.” Gerald said with a smile.
“sshhh…ano ka ba, baka may makarinig sa iyo,” Kim hissed at him.
“So what? Totoo naman yun, I love you so,” Gerald repeated which earned him a glare from Kim.
“Ok sige na, I’ll stop,” Gerald replied with a grin.”Kain na tayo.”
The two of them turned on their food and ate in comfortable silence for a while.
“Ge, wala ka bang may nakalimutan?” Kim finally asked after a few minutes. She could not help herself from asking him.
“Nakalimutan?” Gerald asked then paused as he searched his thoughts. “Ang alam ko wala kasi na check ko na kagabi ang mga gamit ko. Kung meron akong nakalimutan papakuha k okay Joven. Are you referring to my things or iba pa?”
“Ah…oo sa mga gamit mo kasi di ba late ka kanina?” Kim reasoned.
“Wala naman.” Gerald answered and then reached for his water when he was suddenly overcome with coughing fits.
Kim stood up and tapped him on his back and said, “Gerald ano ba, dahan dahan lang.”
They resumed their lunch afterwards as they talked about mundane things around them. They resumed shooting a few minutes afterwards.
While the next scene was being set up, Gerald went to sit beside Kim and promptly went to sleep. Kim could only gape at him because she could not believe it, but it seems that Gerald had forgotten about their anniversary.
“Gerald! Ge!” Kim poked him on his chest.
Gerald opened one eye at asked, “Ano?”
“Alam mo ba ang date ngayon?” Kim asked.
“Ano?” Gerald mumbled.
“Yung date ngayon. Anong date ngayon!” Kim replied a little impatiently.
“Ginsing mo ako para tanuning. Baby talaga!” But Gerald looked at his watch and replied. “Tody is July 3.”
“July 3?” Kim repeated to which Gerald nodded and then went back to sleep.
Kim could not believe it. He really had forgotten today’s significance. Kim wanted to strangle him but she was saved by the arrival of their director.
“Kim, Gerald, hanggang 4 PM lang tayo ngayon kasi may lakad akong importante. Kaya pack up tayo by then, OK?”
“Sige po, thanks Direk,” Kim responded.
“Ano sabi ni Direk?” Gerald suddenly asked from beside her and Kim curbed her anger and replied, “Hanggang $ PM lang daw tayo today kasi may lakad si Driek!”
“That’s good. I have time to….” Gerald started to say something but stopped mid-sentence.
“You have time to what?” Kim asked.
“I cannot decide now. Kung pupuntahan ko ba yung sasakyan ko or should I go with Matt and Fred. Niyayaya nila kasi akong magbasketball.” Gerald replied.
ANO? Mas naaalala mo pa ang sasakyan mo at basketball kesa sa anniversary natin? Kim wanted to scream at him but only controlled herself because they were surrounded by the whole crew and staff.
Kim decided to ignore him then and there and give him the cold shoulder treatment but her plan backfired on her when Gerald continued to sleep and did not wake up until it was time for their take.
By the time four o’clock came, Kim’s anger had subsided that only a little irritation was all she felt. She gingerly walked to her tent hoping to stay away from Gerald. But she was so wrong. He was already there waiting for her.
“Kim, sorry I need to go. Matt and Fred are already outside wating for me. Bye, see you tomorrow,” Gerald said in haste then placed a quick kiss on her check and was gone in a flash before she could even formulate a response.
“Ganun lang yun? Sige tingna nating bukas!” Kim said to his retreating back.
In annoyance, she went inside the tent and said to Ate Tata, “Ate Ta, doon na ako sa labas maghintay!” Then she angrily stomped away.
I could not believe it! Nakalimutan nya! Kim ranted inwardly as she walked towards the waiting area where her driver would pick her up.
Kim continued to rant, keeping the words just in her thoughts as she paced the area watiting for her vehicle.
When fifteen minutes passed and still her van was not around, she called her driver and asked what was keeping him. Kuya Fredo told him that another vehicle has blocked the van and they are waiting for the driver.
“Wala na bang tama na mangyayari sa araw na ito?” Kim muttered to herself as she continued to pace and seeth in anger.”At nag-abala pa ako ng regalo ko, hindi naman naalala ni Geraldo! Hmmph!”
“Oh Kim, wala pa ang sasakyan?” Ate Tata suddenly asked from beside her which made her jump. She was preoccupied with her ranting she did not notice that Ate Tata was already beside her.
“Na block daw kasi sabi ni Kuya Fredo, hinihintay pa nila yung driver ng sasakyan,” Kim replied.
"Oh eto nap ala,” Kim suddenly exclaimed when she saw her van rounding the corner.
“Ay sandali, nakalimutan ko yung isang bag. Teka lang,” Ate Tata said and then ran back towards the tent.
“AT bakit nya dinala balik yung ibang bags? Sana iniwan nya na lang dito. Si Ate Tata talaga!” Kim commented to herself with a shake of her head.
The van suddenly stopped in front of her and she walked towards it. She pulled the door open and promptly gasped in shock when a big bouquet of red roses filled her vision.
“Happy 3rd Anniversary Baby!” Gerald’s smiling face suddenly appeared behind the roses. “Akala mo nakalimutan ko no? Never ever will I forget this special day.”
When Kim remained immobile with shock and surprise, Gerald chuckled and said, “Kim umakyat ka na dito bago makita ng mga tao na nandito ako sa sasakyan mo. Sige ka, malalaman ng mundo ito.”
Gerald’s threat worked in making Kim moved. She hastily climbed up the van and closed the door then she turned on Gerald.
“Alam mo, nakakainis ka!” Kim said at last and punched him on the arm.
Gerald chuckled and pulled her closer to him. “Gusto kitang i-surprise. Ikaw naman hindi makapaghintay. If you’d only seen your face after you asked me if I have forgotten something! At ng tinanong mo ako kung anong date ngayon. Baby ko talaga!” Gerald said and pulled her to him again.
Kim could not erase the scowl on her face in annoyance. Gerald had indeed surprised her but he had to tease her first.
“Baby, wag ka ng sumimangot please. Hindi ko naman talaga nakalimutan anniversary natin.” Gerald said as he bent down and put a lingering kiss on her cheek.
“Wag ka ng magalit please. Please forgive me again for teasing you.” Gerald tenderly begged as he bent down and kissed her cheek again and again.
Kim could feel her annoyance fade with each kiss and in no time at all, she was already leaning towards Gerald in resignation. She took a deep breath and finally gave in to the smile that she had been suppressing after the shock of seeing Gerald with the flowers wore off.
Gerald must have felt her yielding because he thrust the flowers at her hands and said, “Eton a ang flowers mo.”
Kim leaned away from him and accepted the flowers with a smile. “Sa;amat dito.”
“Hi Kim!”
“Hello Kim. Musta na?”
Two familiar voices called out to her from the front seat.
“Kuya Matt! Fred! Anong ginagawa nyo!” Kim exclaimed in surprise.
“Hindi ba obvious na sinusundo namin kayo ni Ge?” Matt replied.
“Bakit kayo pa ang sumundo? Saan na pala ang mga driver natin? At si Ate Tata!” Kim turned to Gerald in question.
“Relax ka lang magkakasama silang lahat doon sa sasakyan ko at ihahatid sina Ate Tata ni Joven sa bahay nyo.” Gerald answered.
“Bakit silang dalawa ang nagsundo sa atin?” Kim asked again.
“Kasi po, may surprise si Gerald sa iyo,” Fred replied from the front seat.
“Ha? Anong surprise?” Kim inquired.
“Basta makikita mo na yan maya maghintay ka lang,” Gerald assured her. To keep Kim’s mind off his surprise, Gerald steered the conversation towards what happened earlier.
“Baby, aminin mo, akala mo talaga nakalimutan ko yung anniversary natin ano?”
Kim smiled sheepishly before admitting the truth to Gerald. “Oo na, inaamin ko, akala ko talaga nakalimutan mo ang araw na ito. Muntik na nga kitang masapak alam mo ba?”
Gerald laughed out loud at her admission. “Ikaw talaga! Pwede ba naman yun?”
“Paano kasi Geraldo, the past two years, eh sinusurprise mo ako first thing in the morning. Yun ang ini-expect ko no!” Kim retorted.
“Kung ganun, tama nga nag plano ko na baguhin ang pagsurprise sa iyo. Eh di surprised ka talaga!” Gerald declared.
“Oo nga, nasurprise mo talaga ako.” Kim giggled. “Buti na lang at maaga tayong napack-up ngayon no?”
“Yes, kasi pinakiusapan ko si Direk!” Gerald announced.
“ANO? You mean to tell me…” Kim started.
“That I was responsible for our early out at work. Alam mo naman si Direk mabait yun kaya pinagbigyan ako.” Gerald finished.
Kim could only gape at him in disbelief. Then a wide smile broke across her face.
“Ano, mas lalo kang bumilib sa akin di ba?” Gerald wiggled his eyebrows at her.
“Hahaha…ayan ka na naman Geraldo! Tumigil ka nga dyan,” Kim admonished him but ended up bursting in laughter at the adorable look in Gerald’s face.
“Oist kayong dalawa, nandito na tayo,” Matt called out to them as he turned on a corner.
Kim leaned towards the window on her side and exclaimed, “Uy, dagat! Punta tayo ng dagat?”
“Lahat ng tanong mo masasagot na in few minutes kaya easy ka lang dyan,” Gerald replied. “Teka nga pala, I need to put a blindfold on you first.”
“Bakit kailangan pa ng blindfold?” Kim pouted.
“Para di mo Makita kaagad ang surprise para sa iyo,” Gerald said as he took out the prepared blindfold from his pocket and covered Kim’s eyes with it.
“Huwag kang gumalaw dyan. Hintayin mo ako,” Gerald advised as he opened the door to his side and went down. He went around the vehicle and opened the door to Kim’s side and reached for her hands.
“Here I am. Just hold on tight!” Gerald said.
Kim held out her hands to Gerald, waiting for him to guide her down from the car when she suddenly felt herself being hoisted off the seat. Even with her eyes covered, she knew that it was Gerald who was carrying her because she felt so safe. After a few feet away, Gerald put her down and told her to get ready.
Kim stood still as Gerald turned her to the right direction and then removed her blindfold. She blinked several times to clear her vision before she saw and realize in disbelief what was in front of her.
She turned to the beaming Gerald beside her and asked, “Gerald, ano yan?”
“It’s a yacht silly. That’s your present. Come closer and look,” Gerald pulled her forward and pointed at the name written on the side of the small white yacht.
“The Kimmy?!” Kim asked in disbelief.
“Yes, I named it after you of course. After all, it’s going to be yours.” Gerald explained.
“Pero Gerald…” Kim started hesitantly.
“Bakit, hindi mo ba gusto ang present mo?” Gerald asked when he saw the strained expression on her face.
“Ge, don’t get me wrong. I like…I love it. But that is already too much. Sobra sobra na yan,I cannot accept it,” Kim explained.
“But Kim, parang tinatanggihan mo na din ang pagmamahal ko sa iyo. Ito ang naisip ko na paraan to show you how much I love you.” Gerald retorted.
“Alam mo sira ka din no. Hindi naman nasusukat ng material na bagay ang pagmamahal no! Besides, hindi ko din hinihingi sa iyo na bigyan mo ako ng mamahaling gift. Sa flowers lang ok na ako basta’t kasama kita solve na ako doon. Happy na ako,” Kim explained further.
“Ang cheap naman ng baby ko!” Gerald exclaimed then, which earned him a whack in the arm from Kim.
“Sira! Ang sinasabi ko lang, dapat ipunin mo yung pera mo para sa future.” Kim replied.
“Eh para sa future naman din natin ito ah? Magiging conjugal property din natin ito. Tama! Ok lang kung hindi mo tatanggapin, sa akin na lang ito. And like I said, magiging conjugal property natin in the future. Brilliant!” Gerald said gleefully.
“Conjugal property?! Hoy Geraldo, hindi ka naman masyadong advanced ano?”
“Kanina lang sabi mo iisipin ko ang future. Kim matagal ko ng pinag-iisipang ang future ko. At ang future ko is spending a lifetime with you. Alam na alam ko na ikaw lang ang babaeng pakakasalan ko, there’s no question about it!”
“Paano ka naman nakakasiguro, aber?” Kim challenged him.
“Paano ako nakakasiguro na ikaw ang pakakasalan ko? Simple lang. Kasi alam ko ikaw lang ang babaeng kukumpleto ng buhay ko at magpapasaya sa akin. At…kahit pa anong mangyari, hinding hindi kita pakakawalan. Gagawin ko ang lahat para sa iyo – papasayahin ka para hindi ka na humanap ng iba.” Gerald declared fervently.
Kim had to mentally fan herself after hearing Gerald’s words. Then she had to remind herself to exhale because Gerald had taken her breath away. How could she ever look for someone else when Gerald kept on surprising her at every turn? She was used to him declaring his feelings for her but to hear him say that he would do anything to keep her so they would spend the future and even a lifetime together! It was just heaven. Kim had to suddenly bite the inside of her cheeks to keep from smiling so wide. She had to restrain herself from jumping up and down in giddiness. Instead, she sighed deeply and recalled Gerald’s words to her mind. She wanted to etch them in her memory so that she could go back and retrieve it every now and then just for the sake of feeling giddy.
“Kim, alam ko kinikilig ka dyan pero tama na muna yan. Let’s go,” Gerald called out to her.
.Kim suppressed her grin as she walked towards him. When Kim reached his side, Gerald gently steered her forward and they both descended the gangplank going into the yacht.
Kim was awed by the elegance and grandeur of the yacht. It was about 20 meters long and about 12 meters wide. The door opened to a circular staircase on the right leading to the lower deck while on the left, stood a small bar. A small dining table occupied the space next to the staircase. A wide flat screen TV hang on the wall opposite a white sofa. According to Gerald, it was the living/dining room combined. Kim approved the white and gold colors of the room.
The sliding door adjacent to the sofa opened to an unhindered view of the ocean. When Kim stepped out, she realized that there was a pool with chaise lounges beside it. She looked on the right and saw a stairs going up. She looked up and saw Matt and Fred waving at her from a small, transparent room on top. Gerald explained that it was the navigation room and Matt and Fred were the navigators for their trip.
“Trip? Bakit saan ba tayo pupunta?” Kim asked.
“Secret lang muna. Basta may pupuntahan tayo. At huwag kang mag-alala babalik din tayo kaagad!” Gerald assured her before she could say anything.
Gerald suggested that they continue the tour of the yacht and Kim agreed. They went back inside and went down to the lower deck where the two bedrooms were located.
“Eto ang room mo,” Gerald said and opened the first door they came upon.
“Wow!” Words totally escaped Kim as she looked at the splendor of the room. It was done in different shades of pink. She went to the window and pushed the curtains aside. She had a view of the water and the passing island. The door on the right led to the bathroom that was also done in shades of pink.
Gerald also showed her his room that has a red and blue accent and was decorated splendidly too.
“Kung may anak na tayo in the future, itong room ko ang magiging room natin at yung room mo, sa mga anak natin. Of course, by that time, na re-decorate na ang mga rooms,” Gerald said confidently.
Kim was taken aback by the certainty of his sentence that she could not think of anything to say to him. Instead, she could feel her heart beating fast in exhilaration. She had to admit that it was her dream to have children with Gerald in the future too.
Forty five minutes later, Gerald announced that they have arrived at their destination. Kim eagerly looked out of the window but it was pitched black outside. She could only discern a small port of some sort where they have docked. By the light of the moon, Kim could see the silhouette of a house in a distance.
Gerald then turned to Kim and reached for her hands. “Tayo na baby.” Then he assited her down the plank and onto the shore. Kim gasped suddenly when the lights were turned on as they neared the house. A table set for two was placed in front of the porch of the lighted house.
“Gerald, nasa Pinas pa ba tayo?” Kim asked at last when she finally recovered from another surprise.
“Oo naman Kim. Dito lang tayo sa isang private island. Nirentahan ko for 2 days para walang distorbo at para tayong dalawa lang,” Gerald said.
“Grabe ka talaga! Sana hindi mo na ginawa ito,” Kim said.
“Eh sa gusto kong gawin ito sa iyo. Hayaan mo na ako baby, kasi dito ako Masaya. Kaya halika na let’s eat.”
“Pano mo nagawa ang lahat ng ito?” Kim asked.
“Yung restaurant na nagcater, nag agree na sila gagawa nito. They just left a few minutes, I believe.” Gerald replied.
Gerald pulled out her seat for her and Kim did not need any more urging. She went to her seat and saw the steaming rice on their plates and the pork chop still sizzling a little.
“Hhmmm….bango pa lang masarap na,” Kim exclaimed before she took her utensils and dug into her food. She looked up to see Gerald hold his fork with a slice of pork out to her. She smiled at him before opening her mouth and accepting the food. They ended up feeding each other their dinner.
After several minutes, Kim lapsed into silence.
“Kim bakit? May problema ba?” Gerald asked.
Kim shook her head and said, “No, walang problema. May naisip lang kasi ako.”
“Ano yun?”
“I just can’t believe na three years na pala tayo. Parang kelan lang ano?”
“Yes, parang kelan lang. I remembered how you used to be so secretive about yourself. Yes, you talk but you never talk about yourself.”
Kim chuckled and said, “Kasi hindi naman talaga ako basta basta nagsishare lang sa kung kanino. Isa pa nadala na ako sa nangyari sa akin. Hindi naman ako naghahanap ng relationship eh.”
“I guess your being mysterious is what lured me in the first place. And it takes a lot before you opened up yourself.” Gerald admitted.
“Kasi nga…yun naman ang plano ko eh. Kaso ikaw…” Kim started to say but stopped.
“Kaso ako what?” Gerald asked.
“Kaso ikaw, you breached the walls I erected with your sense of humor, your constant attention and care. Kahit ilang beses medyo nagdistance ako sa iyo, hindi ka tumigil. You persisted and you constantly showed me that I matter, that I’m interesting. Kaya itong puso ko, wala ng nagawa. Bumigay na siya,” Kim finally admitted.
She looked up to see Gerald beaming with happiness. “From the first moment I met you, I know you are something else. And I’m glad hindi ako nagkamali sa desisyon ko to get to know you better. And I am mighty glad that I did not stop. Kasi sa totoo lang, nahihirapan din ako at first. I didn’t know how to reach you and I even had doubts and asked myself if it is worth it to go after you. But after I got to know you, I know I did not made a mistake. Instead, I found a priceless treasure in you.” Gerald said before he took Kim’s hands and kissed her knuckles.
“Suddenly Kim remembered her gift. “Teka lang pala, sandal!” She dug into her pocket and took out a small velvet box.
“Eto naman ang gift ko sa iyo,” Kim announced and then held out the box to Gerald.
The small card attached to the ribbon read: To the one who won my heart.
Then he untied the ribbon, opened the box and found a ring inside. The ring was a simple band made of white gold. But when Gerald took out the ring, he noticed and inscription inside. He held it close and read: You’re mine Gerald ~ Kim
“So I’m the one who won your heart so I’m yours?” Gerald asked tenderly.
“Yes, you won it with your patience, persistence, sense of humor and your sincere affection and care. And because of that I will be forever yours.”
Gerald was so overwhelmed with emotion that he could not stop himself from reaching for Kim and embraced her tightly. “I’m yours Kim and you’re mine till eternity,” Gerald whispered gruffly in her ear.
They stood like that embraced in each other’s arms as they let their emotion for each other take over for a while. Their racing heartbeats and tingling nerves tell each other how deep is the love and affection they both shared. When at last their heart beat normally again, Gerald gently pulled Kim and ushered her towards the shore.
“Let’s take a walk,” he suggested.
Kim nodded in agreement and in silence, they traversed the white sand in the island. They came upon a blanket a short while later and Gerald steered Kim towards it.
“Dito tayo Kim.”
“Sa iyo ba ito?” Kim asked.
“Oo kasama pa ito sa mga plano for tonight,” Gerald answered.
Kim then sat on the blanket and gazed at the water. “Ang ganda dito. Tahimik. Thank you Gerald for this wonderful day.”
“Anything for my love,”Gerald said and then he laid on the blanket. “Ang ganda ng gabi ngayon. The sky is clear at makikita mo lahat ng stars.”
At his words, Kim did not need any urging. She laid down beside Gerald too and gazed at the sky. “Oo nga. Ang ganda ng gabi ngayon.”
A short while later a light erupted into the sky followed by another one until they lighted the whole sky.
“Uy Ge, may fireworks tingan mo.” Kim exclaimed excitedly.
“Ang ganda naman!” Kim clapped her hands in excitement as she continued to gaze transfixed in the sky.
“Nagfoform ang lights, ano ba yun?” Kim exclaimed again. She stared unblinking at the fireworks, eager to see what it will do next.
I LOVE YOU KIM!
The fireworks had formed the words and Kim gasped in surprise. She looked at Gerald and saw him looking at her so intently that she had to swallow.
“Ge….?”
“I love you Kim, so much,” he whispered gruffly as he lowered his head towards Kim.
Kim could only look at him, eagerly anticipating the meeting of their lips. When at last Gerald’s lips met hers, Kim could not hold back anymore. She kissed him back with as much ardor as he had given. Kim grabbed his head to hold it still as she lost whatever inhibitions she had. All that matter to her at the moment was showing Gerald how she feels for him.
